Innovative Hybrid Isolation Cassette
A natural and highly effective solution for Varroa control

Developed through many years of research, this innovative apitechnical solution offers a highly effective and natural method for controlling Varroa destructor. The hybrid isolation cassette is recommended for use after the last major nectar flow (chestnut) or whenever a beekeeper observes an excessive varroa infestation in the colony.

The unique hybrid design combines two proven approaches in one system: a complete brood break and controlled, limited brood rearing – ensuring maximum effectiveness without compromising colony stability.

KEY BENEFITS:
- Eliminates or significantly reduces the need for chemical treatments
- Helps stop the spread of varroa-transmitted viral diseases
- Concentrates and removes varroa on a single trapping frame
- Maintains queen presence and colony pheromone balance
- Supports sustainable and residue-free beekeeping

HOW IT WORKS
The cassette is made from a durable wire queen excluder and is available in multiple sizes (AŽ, LR 1/1, etc.). It consists of two functional compartments: an isolation compartment and a trapping compartment, separated by a queen excluder with a controlled release opening.

- PHASE 1 – Complete Brood Interruption (Days 1–16)
During the first phase, the queen is isolated in a narrow compartment (11–13 mm), which prevents comb building and completely stops egg laying. This broodless period preserves queen pheromones within the colony while drastically reducing varroa reproduction.
Thanks to this controlled isolation, only one single frame needs to be removed at the end of the treatment.

- PHASE 2 – Controlled Brood Trapping (Days 16–32)
After release into the trapping compartment, the queen resumes limited egg laying on a designated trapping frame. All remaining varroa mites migrate into the open brood, effectively concentrating the infestation in one place.
At this stage, when no brood is present elsewhere in the hive, chemical treatment becomes completely unnecessary.

Simple and Effective Varroa Removal
Once the brood on the trapping frame is fully capped (usually around day 32), the frame is removed and melted down, eliminating varroa in one single step. The queen is then safely returned to the brood nest.

If brood development takes slightly longer, the frame can be removed on day 35 or 36 to ensure complete varroa capture.
