The silicone mould is designed for easy and affordable home production of wax foundations made from beeswax.
Advantages:
• Allows working with your own beeswax.
• Suitable for organic beekeeping.
• No special tools or working conditions are required for operation.
Wax foundation casting process:
Place the mould on a flat surface. Connect two hoses to the water discharge in the container. One hose should be connected to a submersible pump in the water container (at least 50 liters) – see Diagram 1. The water temperature should be between 23°C and 32°C. At lower temperatures, the wax foundations may crack. During operation, the water will heat up. If the temperature exceeds 32°C, add cold water to the container. The cycle for making one wax foundation takes about 3 minutes. Before pouring the melted wax, spray the silicone mould and the metal parts of the device with a release agent, e.g., a solution of water and soap. Then pour the wax into the mould, cover it with the top plate, and gently smooth the surface to allow excess wax to drain off.
To remove the wax foundation, first carefully remove the top part of the silicone mould. Then gently separate the wax foundation from the bottom part of the mould.
During this process, clean and remove any wax residue that may accumulate on the metal parts.
For greater efficiency, you can connect two or three moulds together using a shared water container – see Diagram 2.
The mould also comes with a submersible pump, which should be placed at the bottom of the water container.
Important:
Beeswax for making wax foundations must always be sterilized for 30 minutes at 125°C, then cooled to 65-72°C and is ready for pouring.
Moulds for casting wax foundations in other dimensions are also available.
